Quimantu's director Mauricio Venegas comes from Chile, that dramatic long thin country caught between the mountains and the sea, extending down the left hand side of South America, edged by the vertebrae of the Andes. A Chile renowned for its contemporary treatment of age-old music of the Americas. Venegas has moved to and fro between his homeland and the UK since being forced into exile following the 1973 coup. In this latest production apart from his own band he shares the experience with some of the worlds outstanding musicians including Richard Harvey, Musa Mboob and John Williams.
