Conjunto Gloria Matancera was born in 1927 and this new recording celebrates 77 years of the band, celebrating the big band ballroom swing of 1950s Cuba.The original formation was the packing band for the legendary Celia Cruz.The band moved to Colombia after the revolution in Cuba in 1959 and it was not till early 70's that the group re-shaped and some of the members got together and started the band again.
This classic Cuban band which once featured the legendary Celia Cruz celebrates its 77th birthday with an exclusive recording for Tumi in Havana. It was produced by Grammy winner Joaquin Bentancourt and uses today’s technologies to enhance the big band ballroom swing of 1950’s Cuba.
